Workshop in Crakow on 30th June 2009. Municipality of Raciechowice (Poland) organized the event ‘Switching to energy efficient lighting in our local communities: “BUtK” in action' on 30th June in Crakow. Presentors gave an update about the project progress and lessons learnt. The representative of the European Commission - Mr Christophe Coudun - gave a presentation about experiences with EU funded projects in the lighting sector. For more details please click on the link. The Bottom Up to Kyoto Project Management Team and the Mayor of the Municipality of Voru (Estonia) organised an event "Switching to energy efficient lighting in our local communities: BUtK in action" at the Tallinn World Trade Centre on Tuesday 19th May 2009 at 17:00. Mr Aivar Nigol, Project Manager at the Municipality of Voru, Mr Gerald Strickland and Mr Marc Guiraud, Project Manager presented the project status and answered questions from the public. Call for tenders (1st April 2009), Tenders for the modernisation of street lighting in the three partner cities - Raciechowice, Slovenska Bistrica and Voru - were published. The text of the call for tenders is accessible on the Deliverables page at Deliverable 11 BUtK to exhibit at Livin Luce trade fair on 26-30 May in Milan, Italy. LivinLuce is a meeting place for architects, architectural studios, industrial designers, lighting designers, technical design studios, urban and regional design studios, construction firms and real estate promoters, engineering firms, supply chain contractors, public utilities, project overseers, public administration, education and research institutions, credit and insurance institutions. The representation of BUtK at the faire will be ensured by the BUtK partner AIE (European Association of Electrical Installers) and its Italian member ASSITAL. European Union Sustainable Energy Week 2009, (Brussels, 9th February 2009), As part of the EUSEW 2009 events, the ELC organsied a Conference on Energy efficient Lighting, where BUtK was presented as a concrete example of the promotion of energy efficient practices at local level. The presentation was given by Mr. Jan Denneman, the ELC president. EUSEW 2009 was an event for policy makers, procurement officers, local energy agencies, NGOs, industry representatives and members of the general public interested and/or working in efficient lighting.
ESCO Europe Conference 2008, (Brussels, 4 & 5 November 2008), Gerald Strickland - BUtK coordinator - presented BUtK at the ESCO Europe Conference 2008. The conference was a platform for Energy Service Companies (ESCOs) to discuss opportunities and strategies to further promote the ESCO industry in Europe with policy makers, experts, clients and members of the financial community. The presentation covered the BUtK objectives, i.e. helping municipalities to switch to efficient lighting, the new tender procedure for ESCOs, the status and the expected results. The presentation coincided with the release of thetenders for switching to energy efficient street and office lighting in the various partner municipalities.
Brussels, 31 October 2008, on 28-30 October, Marc Guiraud (Project Manager, ELC) participated in POLEKO, a large eco-innovation trade fair in Poznan, Poland, and dessiminated information on BUtK. The BUtK stand received the visit of the Mayor of Raciechowice who provided detailed explanations to the vistors on the implementation of BUtK in his commune. (pictures) Brussels, 30 October 2008, the Slovenian town of Slovenska-Bistrica has announced that it has published a tender for the modernisation of its street lighting system, using the model contract with compulsory saving guarantees foreseen by BUtK. Brussels, 18 June 2008. ButK was promoted at EURELECTRIC Convention & Exhibition 2008 (16-17 June 2008) in Barcelona where the ELC had a stand. ButK newsletters and presentations on the project were displayed on the stand. The event attracted 550 delegates and 28 exhibitors. Pictures of the stand with ButK materials: Pic 1 Pic 2.
