BUtk - Bottom Up to Kyoto

OBJECTIVES:

Overcoming barriers of switching to energy efficient lighting systems

Reduce CO2 emissions and energy costs

→ Introduce of energy saving contacting in Easter Europe with pilot projects

→ Provide tender specification tender specifications and procurement standards to other municipalities

RESULTS:

→ Analysis of energy consumption and feasibility studies in five partner countries

→  National standard TPF ("Third Party Financing") scheme documents for the modernisation of street lighting

→ Contracts with successfil bidders

→ Three municiapalities with efficient street lighting systems in place

→ Confirmed CO2 emissions and savings

 ‘Bottom up to Kyoto' (ButK) aimed, during 36 months and in 5 municipalities of Europe:

  • To help overcome the barriers to switching to energy efficient lighting technologies.
  • To provide a model (tender specifications/procurement standards) to other municipalities.
  • To assist Europe to meet its Kyoto targets starting at a local level.

‘ButK' is an initiative launched by the European Lamp Companies Federation (ELC), with the support of the Intelligent Energy Europe Agency (IEEA) and in conjunction with 8 partners, that relies on an expert partnership that ensures that these objectives are achieved and that each municipality is provided with a tailor-made energy efficient lighting strategy that can serve as a model for other municipalities in Europe.
